I believe that each individual is the expert of their own story and hold the keys to unlock a journey of growth that can increase self-awareness, while strengthening appreciation for self and recognizing that our best version of self may look different in various seasons of life or from one day to the next and that’s okay!
I have a passion for and primarily work with women who are looking to reconnect with themselves. Women who are leaders in all aspects of life, be it conquering the school drop-off line, being a boss at work, balancing school and life or managing the day to day. I also enjoy working with healthcare workers in the areas of stress management, burnout and identification or refresh of the “why” related to the work that they do.
As a clinician I am committed to creating a safe space where you feel comfortable sharing your story. My approach to therapy is rooted in evidence-based practices, such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), motivational interviewing (MI) and mindfulness, with techniques of reframing and encouragement of positive self-talk being staples of my practice.
My therapeutic style is strengths-based, practical, engaging and direct. I enjoy asking questions and posing alternative framing of a scenario if appropriate all in a desire to help support and elicit the potential for thinking about things in a different way, trying new things, digging into the hard questions and self-reflection.
One key staple of my practice is that within the tough moments that we create time and space for joy. Space to celebrate growth moments, share a laugh and know that it doesn’t always have to be serious. We all deserve to experience moments of joy, happiness and to celebrate the hard work that is the journey of life!
I have always enjoyed the calming sound and serenity that being near the ocean can bring. The soothing effects of sitting by the water, existing in the stillness of nature and the tranquility of hearing the waves slowly roll into shore is healing to my soul.
Waves hold an inherent beauty and turmoil much like life and are always moving. Waves ebb and flow with the change of tides. Depending on the weather, which mirrors many of the emotions and feelings we experience in life, the waves may be calmly coming ashore while other times crashing at a rapid pace.
While we can't always control the circumstances that impact the flow and beauty of the waves, we can find ways to identify what we need in order to navigate them and the surrounding waters.
That's how I envision therapy, a way to navigate the waters of life. Finding strategies to ride the waves, increasing skills to cope with the changes, identifying opportunities to impact what we hope to change and better understanding ourselves to be confident in stepping away from the waves of life that no longer bring us peace or keep us safe.
